Such Great Art: Emily

I saw some of Emily’s handmade books awhile ago and have been meaning to feature them here for Such Great Art. I had a hard time deciding which book to feature and I picked her Africa one. I love the meaning behind this book and the way she put detail into it. Here’s more about Emily’s art.

Tell us a little bit about your work.
My work is a sort of expression of myself. I could paint a hundred different paintings of things that I connect to, but it would never totally encapsulate who I am, I love that! Every one is different in subject and style. I also love to use powerful colors.

I am inspired mostly by God’s creation and by wonderful artist like: Monet, Paccso, Van Gogh, Pollock, Goldsworthy, Degas and Calder.

How do you hope your artwork will impact people?
I hope it will soften people’s hearts to beauty. Sometimes art can stir something inside us indescribable; I wish to stir the indescribable. I hope it will inspire other people too.

Yes I absolutely want to study “art” but as to the specific major nothings jumped out at me. I’m leaning towards 3D art right now. So something that would let me work with both dimensions.
