Hannah shares a room with her sister Abby. They have it divided by color and Hannah has added all kinds of personal touches to her side of the room. As I was photographing her room we were talking about each piece in her room and I think everything has as a story. Just love that. Here’s some more about Hannah’s room.

What was the inspiration for your room?

Firstly color. Secondly anything and everything I love. There was no reference point things just kind of fell together.

What is your favorite item in your room?

The ever growing pile of books by my bed. I love adding to my collection and I try to be good about reading every single one, though I am behind.

Tell us some unique things about your room.

I share it with my older sister and my little sisters room is actually connected to ours. It’s fun, people are always walking through. A lot of the stuff in my room are things I’ve made and either didn’t think anyone would want or didn’t have the heart to give away. So I strategically place them, pretending I meant for them to be there all along.

What’s the best memory you have in your room?

One time Abby and I made this HUGE fort in the middle of the room, out of blankets and chairs. It was an American girl doll dream house. I remember listening to our first jump5 cd under that fort. What a wonderful day…this obviously was a LONG time ago but I remember having many a dance party to jump 5 with Abby and our friend Emily. Good times.

When I was photographing Kristen’s room I decided to stop in Kaitlyn’s room as I peeked in and saw all of her artwork. Her artwork pops right off her bright walls. I just love it! Here’s a bit about Kaitlyn’s room.

What was the inspiration for your room?
I have a lot of art work that I wanted to put up so I tried to design my room around that. I wanted a cozy, creative space and I tried to style every inch of my room around that idea.

What is your favorite item in your room?
I have this old typewriter that was given to my grandpa when he went to college and he gave it to me as a graduation present. It reminds me of him every time I look at it.

Tell us some unique things about your room.
Most of the items in my room are family heirlooms that I’ve tried to make my own. It’s a great way to combine my past with my future.

What’s the best memory you have in your room?
One night my cousin and I just sat around my room, listening to old records and catching up with each other. It was just simple fun!

Anna’s room is just plain adorable. She has it filled with antique items, candles and personal pieces that make it feel so welcoming. She also has a ton of antique books which are just perfect for her. Here’s more about Anna’s room!

What was the inspiration for your room?
The inspiration for my room was international. I have pictures and items in my room that are from all over the world.

What is your favorite item in your room?
My favorite item in my room is my cork-board wall. It is a place for me to display all of my favorite pictures.

Tell us some unique things about your room.
Everything in my room is related to some experience I have had. Most of the items in my room, such as my bedspread, my luggage, and my cameras are from places like Belize, Panama, and Europe. They remind me of my experiences there. I also have suitcases and a spoon collection that I received from my grandma after she passed away.

What’s the best memory you have in your room?
My room used to be my older brother’s room before he left for college. When he was here we started the tradition of all of my siblings (there are five of us) sleeping in his room every Christmas Eve. Now that it is my room we still carry on this tradition. It is something to look forward to every year and never fails to create memories and add something else special to the holiday season.

Bailey has such a unique room that is filled with vintage finds. I kept asking her where she got certain items and she had a story to go with almost every single thing in her room. I love that! One of my favorite is the gorgeous painting above her bed. I absolutely love how she’s created this space that is warm and inviting and at the same time has you seeing something new with each look. What was the inspiration for your room?
I am very inspired by antiques.  I love the stories that my imagination comes up with when I simply just look at something that has been in other’s possessions.  I also love learning about religions, which is incorporated into my room’s style. One theme that describes me is “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”  All of my treasures in my room were once someone else’s trash and I would have a really hard time parting with my belongings now that they make my room so warm.

What is your favorite item in your room?
My favorite item is the portrait of the red-haired woman above my bed.  There’s something about her expression that I relate to. I feel as though she is a newer version of the Mona Lisa.

Tell us some unique things about your room.
Almost everything is from a Flea Market or Thrift store. My room started off with a beach theme and as I grew up and discovered more of my interests, there is no exact theme. I believe that nobody can truly know me until they see my room because it is a collage of my interests and everything I love.

What’s the best memory you have in your room?
Sometimes my mom would come into my room at night and we would just lay in my bed talking. I have told her every worry and dream in that room. There’s something about my room that invokes thoughts, inspiration and with my mom, warmth.

Kristen has a colorful room that I just loved! She has filled the room with artwork and posters that mean something to her. It all totally fits her personality! I kept asking her where she got things and almost all of them were from a garage sale of some sort. I love that she fixed things up and changed them to fit her room perfectly.

What was the inspiration for your room?
I would say my inspiration for my room is the summer and being on the beach. A lot of my photographs that are on the walls were taken in warm, tropical areas. I also have always always loved bright colors, which is why I chose the colors I did to paint the walls.

What is your favorite item in your room?
I don’t have one specific item in my room that is my favorite, but I love the pictures that I have been able to hang up on the walls. I have always loved art and was excited to decorate my room with my own artwork.

Tell us some unique things about your room.
Something unique about my room is that all of my furniture was bought used and redone to fit my tastes. I enjoyed taking on the project of modernizing the old furniture and making it unique to my style.

What’s the best memory you have in your room?
While I don’t have one specific memory in my room that is my favorite, I have many memories of hanging out with my friends in it. I love the sitting area of my room, which has allowed me and my friends to sit around and hang out whenever we would like.

 

I’ve decided for Such Great Room that it doesn’t have to be a high school student. I’ve had so many college students contact me that I thought we all can get inspiration from them too. Still looking for more high school rooms though!

Anyways…Blythe just graduated college and has a super cool room she wanted to share. One of my favorite things in her room is how she has hung up all of her dresses on the back of her closet door. Genius! Easy access to grab a dress in the morning and prevents them all from slipping off the hangers!

What was the inspiration for your room?
My mom has always collected antiques and growing up I loved how they all looked and felt. They were lived in, they’d known other families than mine. I liked the idea of these things belonging to me and to many people before me. Oh, and I also loved to smell old books. When I was moving out and deciding what look I wanted to go for, naturally, I chose the antique-y style. Everything in my room has a story.

What is your favorite item in your room?
I don’t know if I can choose! Well, I’ll try and narrow it to three. I LOVE my mirror because it’s ancient and so beautiful and it was oh so cheap! I didn’t think things like it existed anymore. I also have to choose my diploma because 1. my dad would yell at me because it’s a very expensive piece of paper and 2. I worked hard for that thing! My final favorite item is my Santa Clause snow globe. My grandpa passed away when I was 10 and that was the last present he ever gave to me. I even took it with me to college.

Tell us some unique things about your room.
I have an old jewelry box, but it doesn’t really look like one. It looks like a little, old house with flowers everywhere. It was my great-grandmothers, one of the items she brought with her from Russia. There’s also a little ballerina that still dances when you lift the lid. Also, the print of the entrance to old Rome. When I bought it at the flee market, this is super lame, but I thought that maybe it would have a treasure map or something cool behind it so I took it all apart. Only it doesn’t have a treasure map behind it and now I can’t get it to stay together.

What’s the best memory you have in your room?
One of my fondest memories happened before I even moved in. I really wanted to paint the space and decided on a lovely shade of blue. I recruited my boyfriend to help me and, well, I’m not the best painter. I got a lot of paint on myself and a little on him. But we listened to some great jams and worked together to get it all done and it looks so good now!
